The New SEO
The New SEO 101 – Do keywords and meta tags matter on google like they used to?A few years ago all you heard about was Search Engine Optimization. We all know that SEO is GREAT for our websites, but things have changed within the past few years. The big question is Do keywords and meta tags matter on google like they used to?
Tags Are Important
Although things have changed in the SEO world, those TAGS on your website are still vital. You don’t need to tag 500 different words on your website, but a few tags will help you tremendously in the SEO department.
Meta Tag Description
Listen up, each post you do does need a Meta Tag Description. Why? This is what shows up in a page’s description. Sometimes it’s actually what gets your visitor to click through to your website. So yes, this is an important part of SEO.
Content IS VITAL
Back in the day, it seemed as though you could keyword stuff an article to death and it would rise above a well written article. Well, overtime Google got super smart. Content is king the SEO department. Without good, quality content, your website will suffer majorly. Keep in mind that today everything comes in full circle. Everything from your content to your social shares to your links works together to make your SEO super successful. Crazy huh?
SEO involves getting links back to your website. You can do this through social media, getting listed on another website, having people share your posts, and even sending out newsletters are great way to build up the authority of your website. Keep this in mind though—NOT ALL LINKS ARE CREATED EQUAL. The goal is always quality.
Long Tail Keywords Are Still Important
Basically a long tail keyword is a “phrase you use to search for something.” When you are searching for something on a search engine, you’re usually using more of a phrase rather than a word or two. Instead of searching for just “coffee”—you might search for “coffees ideal for breakfast.” Users of the Internet are getting a little high maintenance and they want to be able to find what they’re looking for FASTER and long tail searches help!
When it comes to knowing and understanding SEO, relatable content is so important. Create stuff your audience wants to read. You’ll want to create a content marketing plan or at least get some help creating one. If you have questions or concerns about how to start building up your SEO, Dalton Consulting is on it!
